Allow the dance to be a means of relaxation and a pathway to the healing process. The arts enable us to discover the magic in our personal creativity and manifest it to the fullest.
Artmaking encourages vision, hope and imagination — all of which foster the healing process and enable us to discover our creative potential.

Dancing facilitates remembering and celebrating our unique essence and personal presence.
~ Tahya
Lessons in belly dance, handed down from generation to generation dating back to antiquity, celebrate the Feminine Divine and facilitate remembering & loving our whole being. Dance “demands” moving into the body ~ that is, out of the head & into the body ~ since sometimes the head isn’t the best place to be.
Our society is so fast-paced and cerebral, caught up in computers and cell phones etc., I believe IT IS TIME to rejuvenate the body/heart/mind connection and rekindle the sacred fires within.
The dance reaches out to those of us who may have lost touch with the internal flame of creativity and femininity. The expression of our femininity is not just how we look on the outside but how we feel on the inside; dancing facilitates remembering and celebrating our unique essence and personal presence. Furthermore, it develops unique self expression, and heightened self esteem.

Tahya, a well known instructor in and around the Lehigh Valley stopped by 69 News at Sunrise to give us an introduction.
The movements you share really do address the tightness and change a woman goes through after a mastectomy and lymph node removal. My right arm is totally numb from my shoulder to elbow on the backside and there is tightness in the whole underarm area. The movements you share are effective in helping to strengthen my muscles and stretch my skin in a way that doesn’t feel like therapy, rather I’m having fun! What a gift!

Tahya made us all feel special. We danced with veils, tapped the rhythm on frame drums, circled the floor with finger cymbals and connected to movements rich in women’s history and healing rituals.

I think it’s wonderful…It doesn’t hurt what I’ve done [as a surgeon] – it complements it. I helped treat the cancer, this has helped her mind and spirit.

After observing the profound ‘healing’ taking place with Tahya’s students who are Cancer survivors, I was instantly moved and realized the urgency to spread the word to therapeutic communities at large. Without reservation I endorse Tahya’s work as a beautiful, effective complement to any traditional therapy model.

Tahya has a special gift that she graciously shares with others. As a person inflicted with lyme disease victim, I found this dance to be very beneficial in my recovery. It has helped me to put aside all other things, just for a moment and focus on myself ~ mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
