Tahya facilitated a beautiful meditation connecting us with our inner goddess, encouraged my friends to step up to the mic to offer good wishes & blessings for baby and me, and then led us in dance moves! Thirty women belly dancing together, sooo much fun!

Thank you so much, Tahya, for making this baby shower so special!
• Birth Dance Belly Dance
It is my distinct honor and a pleasure to share movements from one of the “oldest forms of dance, originating with pre-Biblical religious rites worshiping motherhood…” as my teacher Morocco Carolina Varga Dinicu wrote in her article Belly Dancing and Childbirth and as Daniela Gioseffi wrote in her book Earth Dancing, this is “a dance of birth and fertility dating back to ancient cultures as preparation of the body for birthing, as well as a dance of life in celebration of the female’s magical ability to bring life forth from her womb.” Women of all ages ~ maiden, mother, queen, crone ~ are invited to partake in the circle, a unique program encouraging and introducing women to drumming and movement practices steeped in antiquity (and our common women’s heritage). This program empowers women to re-member and re-create ceremony and ritual. She considers it an honor to re-acquaint others with the tools for meaningful practice in our daily lives, re-emerging and re-awakening the Goddess energy within!
On a late Summer evening under a full moon with a crisp chill in the evening’s air, the warmth of the fire, the smell of burning sage, the rhythmic beating of drums along with the energy emanating from our souls, I felt a moment of pure bliss in this revival of ancient ritual resounding the earth . The energy intensified as it flowed between the women in this special drum circle. I even felt a burst of energy emerging from my womb, my unborn child did not want to miss out on such a glorious event, a spiritual ceremony where we respected ourselves, each other, and the earthly elements. This was my first time partaking in this rite and, despite an overwhelmingly negative world, I found myself in touch with a lovely positive energy .
