Sacred Instruments
in Goddess Tradition of Ancient Egypt

December 30, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$20

One-hour ONLINE program in which you will

💜 DISCOVER the relevance of these hand-held percussion instruments in Ancient Egypt
💜 LEARN how they can be used as sacred instruments today
💜 PLAY a simple rhythm pattern
💜 PARTICIPATE in a co-creative experience

Learn about the Systrum, an ancient Egyptian hand-held percussion instrument with cymbals that slide on transverse bars creating a shimmering jingle when shaken, a predecessor to the tambourine often played along with the frame drum.

The systrum was played in combination with the frame drum in festive community processions. It was also used as a sacred implement in ceremonial ritual, especially associated with the Goddess Hathor*

*whose many epithets included Nourisher of the Fields, Sovereign of the Stars, Mistress of Music & Dance

Make acquaintance with women and men all around our spinning galactic dance floor as Hathor is making Her presence known; we are a connected network across the planet being beckoned by the Goddess to be “Light in the world” which reminds me of a few words from a Hymn to Hathor in Normandi Ellis’ book “Awakening Osiris: The Spiritual Keys to the Egyptian Book of the Dead” ~

Go then and make of the world something beautiful, set up a light in the darkness.
