TAHYA offers master classes for Danse Orientale enthusiasts in either a one-day three-hour class or a full weekend format.

The class opens with a review of basic Danse Orientale movements and vocabulary, including postural alignment, and quickly progresses to isolations and hip articulation with complimentary upper body, hand and arm movements influenced by classical Indian, Persian and Lebanese dance. The second half of the 3-hour class focuses on combinations within choreography ~ with handout(s) ~ incorporating the movements reviewed in the first half of the class with an emphasis on the dancer's relationship to the music and pointers on how to construct your own choreography for performance. Over the course of a full weekend workshop, an entire 7-min. choreography can be reviewed.

Utlimately, this class is designed to build skill, improve technique, and expand one's repertoire of dance steps. In addition, Tahya shares performance techniques that allow poetic thoughts to imbue body movement.

intensity of feeling that is conveyed from the heart of the dancer
to his/her audience. In order for a dancer to conjure mystery and magic,
there has to be inspiration behind the movement. Therefore, my
classes also include imagery I hope will serve as a key unlocking heretofore
unknown possibilities within each dancer's heart/mind."
