12/06 Tahya Technique(tm) Instructor Training Program

The 'Tahya Technique'(tm) Belly Dance Instructor Training Level I program is targeted for Aerobics & Dance Instructors. This is a comprehensive 18-hour course designed to prepare aerobics & dance instructors to offer an introductory level 'Belly Dancing for Fitness and Fun' class. Previous aerobic and/or dance training required.

Class participants will train to become 'certified' to offer introductory 'Tahya Technique'(tm) introductory classes (4 or 6 1-hour class sessions). This 18-hr. training program is open to interested parties with prior aerobic and/or dance training. The program introduces dance traditions from the 'Tahya Technique'(tm) repertoire, i.e., drumming & dance movements "grounded"/rooted in the sacred and secular traditions of North Africa, and the Middle & Far East. The intent is to introduce these arts as accessible tools for relaxation, reconnecting with our deeper selves (and each other), increasing individual creativity and reviving one's health & well-being. Course materials include CD and DVD as reference resources.

The most beneficial aspect of this training program for me was learning to guide others confidently and having a good time at the same time. I enjoyed the camaraderie, learning together and helping each other to succeed ~ all with Tahya gently leading us along. I learned to listen deeply with not only my ears, but with my whole body. I would recommend this training program to others to increase confidence, bring your own experience to a different level, and help you relate to groups (whether speaking or teaching). Also, this course improves your own technique and gives insight on how it works.
-- Deborah A. Petraitis

This 18-hr. training program, offered over the course of six 3-hour consecutive classes includes lecture, participatory movement classes, discussion, "homework" assignments and demonstration of knowledge gained via modeling a sample program developed. Glossary of terms, suggested music list, bibliography and lesson plans are among handouts included.

Attendance at all classes is mandatory in addition to assisting Tahya at a minimum of three to four practicum classes prior to award of certificate.
